WHY WE GIVE

Giving… yes when you give, you are making an investment in eternity! Did you know money is mentioned in the Bible over 800 times? God must be pretty serious about this subject to talk about it that much. Jesus talked about money more than he did heaven. In fact, Jesus says in Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Giving is a matter of the heart.

Paul goes on to tell us in 2 Corinthians 9:7 that God loves a cheerful giver. Cheerful comes from the Greek word hilaros, from which we get our English word hilarious. This shows that God desires and loves hilarious givers.

Sometimes when we think of giving we think of some regimented thing that we “have” to do. It’s not that we have to do anything. It’s what we get to do. We should be excited to give and put God in His rightful place which is First in our lives.

The bottom line is that the basis of stewardship is Scripture, not cute marketing or manipulation. We must always keep our eyes focused on the reason we give. God uses people to give and accomplish the mission He has for this church. Our goal is to the reach and develop healthy followers of Christ. When we give we make it possible for people to come to Christ. Luke 19:10 explains it best “ For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which is lost”. That’s all people regardless of race, background or wealth. Reaching and growing people is reason enough to be a giver. So join us today and help us to fulfill the great mission God has placed before us.
