What we believe

God

We believe in One God who eternally exists in three persons: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal, which is the Trinity.

Genesis 1:1-3; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-3, 14; Colossians 2:9; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Timothy 1:17

The Bible

We believe the complete verbal inspiration of the accepted canon of Scriptures originally given. They are infallible and uniquely authoritative and free from error of any sort in all matters, including scientific and historical, as well as moral and theological.

2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Corinthians 2:13

The Lord Jesus

We believe He is the Savior of all people, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of Virgin Mary, very God and very man.

Luke 1:26-35; John 1:18; Isaiah 7:14; 9:16

Christ’s death, resurrection, & ascension

We believe He died for our sins, was buried, rose again on the third day, and appeared to His disciples. We believe in His bodily ascension to heaven and His bodily coming again for the Church.

1 Corinthians 15:14; Romans 4:25; John 14:2-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Salvation

We believe that all who believe the Gospel are born again by the Holy Spirit and become children of God and heirs of eternal life. Thus, eternal life is totally a work of grace, a gift of God and not a result of any good works or human efforts on our part.

John 3:3, 5, 16; Romans 3:23-28; 5:1; 6:23; Galatians 2:16; 4:4-7; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5

Eternal life

We believe that eternal life is for all who believe in the way of salvation God made for us through Christ; and eternal consequences of separation from God for those who reject Christ.

John 3:16

The Christian life

We believe in the ongoing process of spiritual growth of the Christian through the Holy Spirit and God’s Word. Each person is to grow in their knowledge of God’s Word and in developing and employing their spiritual gifts through the Church so others may come to know Christ and the Church be built up into maturity.

John 8:31-32; 14:16-17; 16:13; 17:17; Romans 12:4-8; 1 Corinthians 12-14; Galatians 5:22-23; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 5:11-14

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit which is promised to all believers subsequent to salvation as the entrance into a Spirit-filled life including: a prayer language (speaking in tongues), gifts of the Holy Spirit, and power to be a witness and anointed servant of God.

Joel 2:28-29, Luke 3:16, Acts 1:4-5, 8, 2:4, 38-39, 10:44-47, I Corinthians 12:4-11

Gifts of the Spirit

We believe in  the operation of the gifts of the Spirit as enumerated in I Corinthians 12-14 and demonstrated in the Early Church.

1 Corinthians 12-14

Missions

We believe in the responsibility of every believer to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15-20, Acts 1:8, 2:40-41, 47

The Two Non-Negotiable Ordinances

Communion

Is a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death for all people.

1 Corinthians 11:28-32

Water baptism

We practice water baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
